We have actually been around since 2006.The website has been undergoing a very slow revamp, since we have been working on getting the doors open to the new expanded geekshop 2.0. I have a person that will be working on the site more soon and meetings will recommence around september.

It is true. I’m not a gadget guy by any stretch of the imagination, and even I thought it was pretty cool. The free wireless just topped it all off.

Thank you for your time and support to others. I was tryong to get the full desktop. When I got to the point of getting the kicker instead I got the pidgin…. so I get some error when applying the rest of proposed configuration… and eventhoug I get the full desktop icon I does not work. Please advice.

This worked for me although I installed “advanced-desktop-eeepc” instead of kicker and ksm server, I’m using a eee pc 1000H.

I also buy books that are mostly nonfiction. I have not had the privilege of finding used books in a Hastings but I will certainly be a more frequent visitor when I do.

Last night I installed a software update that had automatically downloaded from ASUS. Now when I boot into full desktop mode the login screen no longer appears even though I do NOT have the autologin set. Easy mode still asks me for my password but the full desktop mode doesn’t. Also the logout feature in full desktop mode now seems to do a restart instead (and doesn’t ask for a password). Anyyone else seen this ? can I uninstall the update to see if that fixes the problem ?

I also report that after a failure due to the repository being temporarily unavailable, this procedure worked fine.
The fact that Star office crashes on startup is bad, since I use my eeepc for presentations. I have seen some threads proposing a fix although that didn’t work for me…
